We want to create a world where women have the opportunity to work where their strengths lie, not where society dictates them. the Boardroom is a strong network that supports and encourages women to achieve their professional goals, enables companies to retain and promote senior female talent and helps boards achieve gender parity.


- Founder -

Diana Markaki is an international M&A lawyer, senior executive in the energy and infrastructure industry and experienced board member in both public and private companies.  She has served on the Board of Directors of ELLAKTOR, a publicly traded infrastructure group doing global business in more than 30 countries, and is on the Board of Directors of 5G Ventures, which manages Phaistos Fund, a mutual fund that invests in companies active in the research and development of 5G applications and services.​

She holds a Law degree and LL.M. in International and European Law from the University of Athens, as well as an Executive MBA from Harvard Business School.

Diana is also Swiss Chair of the global campaign "50/50 Women on Boards", angel investor in female-founded startups and mentor of high-potential women.


"I passionately believe that gender equality is the necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. But being the "only" woman in a room full of men can be isolating and poses a new challenge: staying at the top.


While getting to the top requires resilience and courage, staying at the top requires community and support — two things that women in power often lack compared to their male peers.  This is why I founded the Boardroom.

- Chair, Greek Chapter -

Elena is a Hospitality Executive with more than 20 years of demonstrated experience in Sales, Marketing & Business Development. She developed the essence of hospitality from a very early age, through her family hotel business.


After falling in love with the industry, Elena continued her studies in Hotel Management and Business Administration in Strasbourg and in Paris. She has worked in executive positions Internationally at multiple hotel brands, such as Accor, Hilton, Starwood and Marriott Intl. 


Elena moved back from London to Greece in 2009 and after a successful career and a long-lasting relationship with her favorite of all, the Hotel Grande Bretagne, she recently decided to step out of her comfort zone and focus on more entrepreneurial challenges.

- Chair, Hellenic Capital Market Commission -

Dr. Vassiliki Lazarakou is Chair of the Hellenic Capital Markets Commission (HCMC) and member of the Management Board of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). She is also Chair of the ESAs (ESMA, EBA & EIOPA) Joint Committee on Securitisations.


Dr. Lazarakou has a Doctorate in Law (JSD) from New York University School of Law, New York, U.S.A. She also has an LLM in International Legal Studies from New York University School of Law and Bachelor in Law from the Athens University, School of Law. She is a lawyer admitted at both the Athens Bar and the New York Bar Association with expertise on capital markets, M&As, privatizations, corporate and commercial law and other similar issues. She has worked for more than 20 years as a Partner at several law firms and for more than 10 years she was heading the relevant Banking, Capital Markets and Finance Department of such Firms. From 2012 -2015 she was also a First Vice-Chair of the HCMC and an alternate member of BoS.


During her term, she achieved the political agreement for the adoption of the Regulation and Directive on “Markets in Financial Instruments” (MiFID II/ MIFIR) as Chair of the relevant Working Group of the Council in 2014.

- Executive Chairman, Olympia Group -

Ioannis Karagiannis is Executive Chairman of the Olympia Group. During the course of his career, he has held senior executive roles at the Group and its investee companies and has been instrumental in the success of a number of investments, including in the launch of Play, the largest mobile company in Poland, where he was Chairman of the Board.

He currently also serves as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board at Public Group and as a member of the Board at Westnet.

A seasoned executive with a wealth of experience in Marketing, Sales and General Management, across the telecommunications, retail and FMCG sectors, Ioannis Karagiannis is also Board member of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises.

From 2002 to 2008 he held the role of Chief Executive Officer at Germanos S.A.

Mr. Karagiannis holds an MBA from Bradford Management School and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.


- Deputy CEO, Eurobank -

Stavros Ioannou is the Deputy CEO and Executive Member of the Board of Directors (BoD) of Eurobank and Eurobank Holdings. He is the Group Chief Operating Officer, responsible also for the International Activities and Wealth Management services of the Group..


Stavros started his career in banking in 1988, at Barclays Bank PLC. In 2003 he was elected Executive Member of the BoD of Millennium Bank. In 2005 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer at Eurobank A.D. Beograd, which he was heading until 2008, since when he continues to be a non Executive Member of the BoD, now operating under the name Eurobank Direktna a.d. He has served as General Manager Retail Banking (2013– 2014). He is currently a Member of the BoD at Eurobank Bulgaria AD since October 2015, Member of the BoD at Eurobank Cyprus Ltd since November 2015 and Chairman of the BoD at BE-Business Exchanges SA since January 2014. Throughout his career he has also served as a non Executive BoD Member in various organizations such as New Hellenic Post Bank, New Proton Bank, Eurolife, Grivalia Properties REIC, Cardlink S.A.


He is Member of the Executive Committee of the Hellenic Banking Association since 2013, where he is appointed as Chairman since 2020. He is also non-executive Member of the BoD of Grivalia Management Company S.A. He is Chairman of Eurobank’s ESG Management Committee and the responsible BoD Member for the Women in Banking initiative.


He holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the University of Piraeus and a Master Degree in Banking & Finance from the University of Wales, United Kingdom.


- Managing Director, Stanton Chase -

Manos Panorios joined Stanton Chase in 1998 bearing extensive experience as a Financier in consumer services, and construction sectors holding positions of Senior Accountant, Auditor, and Finance Manager.  

In parallel with his consulting role, he was holding the position of Finance Director in the company.  

He practically built the Financial Services Practice, handling numerous demanding projects within the banking and insurance sector, as well as high-profile Financial Assignments through all industries.  

Since 2014, he holds the position of Managing Director in the SC Athens office and Global Practice Leader Financial Services, especially focused on the Banking sector.  

Manos studied Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Leicester (UK). He is member of the Labor Committee of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce.  


- Chair, EYDAP S.A. -

Theodora Varvarigou is a professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Since June 2019, she serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYDAP S.A.) which is also listed in the Athens stock exchange. She chairs the Strategy and Innovation Committee, she is a member of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee and she is also a member of the Risk Management Committee. Since 2015, she also serves as a member of the Board of Bodossakis Foundation and since 2021 she is a member of the Steering Committee of the Hellenic Institute of Advanced studies. Since 2020 she has been a member of the European Network of Women in Leadership.

Professor Varvarigou graduated from the Electrical Engineering department of the NTUA in 1988 and got her MS degrees in Electrical Engineering (1989) and in Computer Science (1991) from Stanford University. She also received her Ph.D. degree from Stanford University in 1991.

Her research is making an impact on cutting-edge technologies, such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, Cloud computing, big data technologies, IoT technologies, semantic web, social networking technologies etc. She has published more than 500 papers in leading international journals, conferences and books. She has also participated and co-ordinated more than 60 EC projects. 


- CEO, Deloitte Greece -

Dimitris Koutsopoulos is the CEO of Deloitte Greece and Member of the Deloitte Central Mediterranean Executive Committee.  Dimitris joined Deloitte in 1998 and he has worked since to further develop the firm’s service offerings to solve clients’ complex challenges. He joined the Firm as an Auditor and over the years led the audits of various companies, among which listed in ASE and multinationals.

Dimitris joined the department of Financial Advisory Services (FAS) in March 2004 and became a FAS partner in 2006. He has contributed significantly to the foundation and development of the Transaction Support and Restructuring advisory service lines. In June 2011, Dimitris was appointed as the Leader of the Greek Consulting business.  


He is a Chartered Accountant ICAEW, a Fellow Certified Chartered Accountant (FCCA) and holds a BSc in Economics and two post graduate degrees in International Finance and Business & Management. Dimitris is a member of the Supervisory Committee of the Greek Registered Auditors and a Founding Member of the Council of Competitiveness of Greece.


- Ass. Professor,  Commercial Law -

Christina Livada is Assistant Professor of Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Christina has obtained her PhD from the Faculty of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2004.


In 1996 she obtained her D.E.A. in International Law (International Private Law and Commercial Law) from the University Panthéon-Assas (Paris II). In 1995 she completed her studies at the Faculty of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 2000 she was awarded a research scholarship from the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law.


Her main fields of specialization are consumer protection law, company law, corporate governance and banking law. In this capacity she is the author of several books and articles in the abovementioned fields.


She has been member of the corporate governance working group of the Hellenic Corporate Governance Council for the review of the Greek Corporate Governance Code and a member of the law making committee for the review of the Greek law on sociétés anonymes.

- CHRO, OTE Group -

Ms. Papadopoulou has been OTE Group Chief Officer Human Resources Officer since December 2011. She joined COSMOTE in September 2005, as a Human Resources Director, and in 2008 she undertook the position of COSMOTE Human Resources General Director.

Prior to joining COSMOTE, Ms. Papadopoulou worked in the Financial Division of SHELL HELLAS S.A., from where she moved to KRAFT FOODS INTERNATIONAL as Human Resources Manager. For the next ten years she held the position of Human Resources Director and was a member of the Management Team of MERCEDES BENZ HELLAS, PN GEROLYMATOS and PRAKTIKER HELLAS of the METRO Group.

Ms. Papadopoulou holds a degree in Business Administration and Finance from Deree College.
